ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Virginia Zoo employee Emily Spence said a photo posted last Sunday showing her with a white rhino was taken during a routine dehorning procedure meant to protect the animal from poachers; she explained that the safe process, similar to trimming fingernails, allowed the rhino to resume walking quickly while its horn will slowly grow back (a measure to lessen poaching risks).  WAVY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State regulators approved modest rate increases that will raise Virginia households' monthly electricity bills by about $13 over the next two years—well below the amount Dominion Energy requested.
