- ➤ Three Hampton Roads families, including the Pope, Crawford and Elliott families, returned after surviving a Category 5 hurricane in Jamaica and shared their rescue experience upon landing at Norfolk International Airport. - ➤ HII reported over 100 workers at Newport News Shipbuilding were laid off after furloughs in June—this move cut about one-third of the salaried crew to better meet U.S. Navy commitments. WAVY
- ➤ Today, an HII spokesperson said that about one-third of the 471 shipbuilders furloughed in June will be laid off to align the workforce with current Navy needs—some workers had already returned or left on their own. WTKR
- ➤ Dominion Energy said its Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project remains on schedule despite a delay in starting turbine installation due to minor quality assurance issues with its turbine installation vessel (Charybdis) undergoing work at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal. Crews have completed key foundations and pieces, and the project is set to deliver power in the late first quarter of 2026 with full completion by March 2026. WTKR
