EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Hampton Education Foundation will host the fourth annual H.E.F. Fest on November 8 at The Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery in downtown Hampton — doors open at 6:30 p.m. and live music starts at 7:30 p.m. to raise funds for teacher innovations and student programs.  WHRO Public Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Veterans Day ceremony will be held on November 8 at 11 a.m. at Fort Monroe’s Continental Park while the planned parade was canceled because federal agencies cannot actively participate—Hampton will resume the parade in 2026.  City of Hampton
  • A AAA study found that confusion over Virginia’s 'slow down, move over' law is leaving first responders at risk—only 64% of drivers react correctly when encountering a stopped emergency vehicle, and 46 responders lost their lives in past incidents. The study also showed that many drivers do not understand the law’s requirements, prompting a call for clearer rules and stronger enforcement.  WAVY
