- ➤ Virginia students improved their SOL scores as 68.3% passed math and 71.9% passed reading for grades 3-8 in the 2024-25 school year (an increase of 1.9% and 0.8%) despite tougher tests. Gov. Glenn Youngkin said the state will raise cut scores to align with national exams and noted a 26% drop in chronic absenteeism over the past two years. WAVY
