  • Stanton McDuffie organized the 5th annual Yellow Bat Tournament in Virginia Beach for Families of Autism Coming Together (FACT), and the event will feature a double elimination wiffle ball competition for all ages with teams of four. Registration costs $100, which includes t-shirts and lunch, and McDuffie hopes to raise an additional $10,000 on top of the $20,000 collected over the last four years.  WAVY

  • High Noon is recalling two production lots of its Beach Variety packs sold in Virginia because the cans, which contain vodka seltzer, were mislabeled as Celsius Astro Vibe energy drinks—an error from a shared packaging supplier—so consumers should dispose of the products and contact the company if a refund is needed.  WAVY

  • Hampton police are seeking to question Domonique Hickman — a Black female reported to be 5'6" and 110 lbs with black hair and brown eyes — in connection with a homicide on Azalea Drive, and she faces a warrant for violating probation from Florida.  13 News Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tourism programs in Hampton and surrounding regions were awarded over $2 million in matching grants from the Virginia Tourism Corporation, with local partners pledging more than $2.74 million to generate over $4.76 million in new marketing and event promotion through 2026 – the awards support efforts to boost overnight visits and aid 1,130 small businesses and nonprofits statewide.  WAVY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Virginia senators Warner and Kaine sent a letter to Secretary of the Navy on Wednesday asking for a briefing by August 14 about Seaman Angelina Resendiz, who was last seen on May 29 and whose remains were found on June 9 in Norfolk— they also questioned how the Navy handled the transfer of her remains to her family, and the investigation remains ongoing.  13 News Now
