- ➤ Teams from the Savannah Bananas and Party Animals worked with Chesapeake nonprofit Roc Solid to build a playset for nearly 1-year-old Fisher Blankenship who is battling cancer. Fisher’s family celebrated the reveal at Harbor Park before taking the playset home for him and his older brother Noah to enjoy. WAVY
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Crews with Hampton Fire & Rescue — along with the Hampton Police Division — responded to a boat fire on South Armistead Avenue Thursday night and dismantled the boat with a chainsaw as no injuries were reported. WAVY

- ➤ Hampton police responded to a shooting around 3 a.m. Friday in the 2100 block of West Mercury Boulevard — few details have been released as the investigation continues. 13 News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ USS Mitscher set sail today from Naval Station Norfolk with about 300 sailors after rigorous training and system upgrades — joining the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to head for the Mediterranean to work with our allies. WAVY
- ➤ Hampton is working with an architecture firm to develop infill housing plans in five neighborhoods including Aberdeen Gardens, Phoebus, Buckroe, Downtown and Greater Wythe — the effort will use community meetings and an online survey to shape the designs. The plans will be finalized by August 2026 and will help save time on approvals while keeping each area’s historic look. WTKR

- ➤ A local Navy veteran battling dementia got a surprise seaplane ride over Yorktown Friday that let him relive memories from his Navy service and long career at the shipyard—staff at Hidenwood Retirement Community arranged the outing to brighten his day.
