Good morning, Hampton. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 23rd of July.

CULTURE NEWS

  • Last weekend, the third annual Hampton Storytelling Festival brought together local and national artists at the Hampton History Museum where Andy Irwin performed his tale 'Sister True' to spark talks on race, class, and growth. Local organizers Janice “Jay” Johnson and Sheila Arnold said the event shows that sharing stories helps people connect—especially for those still feeling the effects of the pandemic.  WHRO Public Media
  • WHRO-FM will air Puccini’s Manon Lescaut on Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m. The opera (starring soprano Erika Grimaldi and tenor Roberto Aronica) is part of the WFMT Opera Series continuing its summer program.  WHRO Public Media
  • Today at 9 p.m., host Raymond Jones presents a new edition of ‘A Local Touch—Music with a Virginia Connection’ on WHRO-FM where top local artists such as violinist Lana Trotovsek and pianist Lee Jordan-Anders perform works that link Virginia’s talent to classical music worldwide.
