ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A man died after being struck by a vehicle early Monday when he tried to cross West Mercury Blvd without a crosswalk—police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation—his name has not yet been released.  13 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Virginia Beach Police arrested and charged four people last week in connection with an alleged human trafficking operation involving six victims—three suspects are from Hampton Roads and one is from South Carolina.  WTKR
  • Four people were arrested on June 20 and June 21 by the Virginia Beach Police Department Special Investigations Bureau as part of the Hampton Roads Human Trafficking Task Force—six victims were identified and given support services while federal law enforcement set out to investigate further connections.  WAVY

CULTURE NEWS

  • WAVY’s 10 On Your Side won two regional Emmy awards this weekend. The station’s D-Day Remembrance special and Black History Month report on the I. Sherman Greene Chorale earned honors from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter).  WAVY

  • Because of a dangerous heat wave with temperatures that feel hotter than 110 degrees, Hampton libraries and community centers will be open to offer a cool place to stay.
