- ➤ Hampton police arrested 23-year-old Caleb Marquise Dillard in June on charges linked to a February homicide on Michigan Drive — on Feb. 26 around 9:30 p.m. near Lasalle Avenue and Mercury Boulevard, Patrick Hewett was fatally shot — and he now faces charges including second-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, discharge of a firearm near a dwelling and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. - ➤ FloSports & NASCAR have added $50,000 to the Virginia Triple Crown purse, raising the champion prize to $20,000 and making it the richest award in the event’s history. FloRacing is the new presenting partner for the series that includes the Hampton Heat at Langley Speedway on July 19, one of three races where drivers will have their average finish determine the champion.
