Good morning, Hampton.

A Virginia Beach rabbi urged USS Liberty reunion organizers to reconsider inviting speakers accused of antisemitism, saying their presence undermines the memorial honoring 34 sailors killed in the 1967 attack.

The event will be held at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel from June 6 to June 9—organizers have said it is too late to uninvite figures like Stew Peters.

Big Lots will open 78 new stores on June 5 as part of its retail comeback—stores will be located in nine states including Virginia.

Variety Wholesaler, which acquired over 200 Big Lots locations last December, says more openings will follow before a grand celebration in the fall.

Hampton Police Division and Hopeful Hampton will launch a new satellite office at Buckroe Beach this summer — the Shoreline Operations Station will open Memorial Day weekend to help keep the beach safe by offering a consistent site for reporting disruptive behavior and learning about community policing.

Local football coach Tommy Reamon Sr. died at 73—he coached at several local high schools and mentored players such as Michael Vick and Aaron Brooks.

His death leaves a lasting impact on the Hampton community.
