- ➤ According to the Federation of Virginia Foodbanks, one in nine Virginians faces food insecurity, with Black and Hispanic households twice as likely to struggle and about one-third of those affected being children. - ➤ Three Phoebus High students in Hampton will receive associate degrees from Virginia Peninsula Community College before finishing high school through Hampton City Schools’ ACE Academy. - ➤ Lynnhaven River Now, a local nonprofit, will remove up to 100 abandoned boats from Hampton Roads waterways over the next year, beginning next week with removals from Willoughby Bay — the boats have created hazards near a Naval Station. The project is funded by the NOAA Marine Debris Program — and involves local municipalities, the US NAVY, the Virginia Marine Resource Commission and Clean Virginia Waterways. WAVY
