CRIME NEWS

  • Hampton police released a photo of a person they believe was connected to the May 5 shooting that killed 29-year-old Xavier Sterling outside Chances Restaurant — authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.  WTKR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Chesapeake Bay Foundation worked along the Hampton River, installing over 4,500 oyster castles and recycled shells on the Pinecone Harbor reef — a step to help oysters filter water and improve our waterways. The group said picking up trash from land is key to cleaner water — and it invites 3,000 volunteers to join Virginia’s largest cleanup from 9 a.m. until noon on June 7.  WAVY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center announced Tuesday that it added over 100 parking spaces — 70 for veterans and visitors and 59 for general use — and expanded its shuttle service following community feedback.  13 News Now

  • Health experts say that heat-related illnesses can begin when it feels like 80 to 89 and may worsen with higher heat indices that bring cramps, exhaustion, or even stroke.
