  • The Spirit of Norfolk was christened yesterday in Hampton Roads as it returned to service after nearly three years off duty following a fire in June 2022 that burned for three days (no one was injured). Carnival Cruises used the Mount Vernon during its absence, and Norfolk’s mayor Kenny Alexander joined the ceremony.  WAVY
  • Today, YMCA of Virginia Peninsulas announced a partnership with Water Country USA and Busch Gardens Williamsburg to boost water safety for local families after recent water emergencies involving young children. The program offers free 2nd grade learn-to-swim lessons in 11 school systems and gives each student a single-day park ticket upon course completion — a step aimed at preventing future drownings — while also expanding swim classes for infants and older children.  13 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Hampton police are searching for Don Mann, who faces charges for illegally disposing of a dead body and tampering with evidence in connection with the homicide of Henry Jordan Jr—found dead on West Weaver Road after he was last seen on March 11.  13 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State-run primary elections for governor and local offices begin with early voting tomorrow as candidates must meet signature requirements to qualify — the new rules now ensure all voters, including absentee ballots, can participate.
