CRIME NEWS

  • A 32-year-old man (Ajani Wiggins) was arrested after a crash on West Mercury Blvd (near Martha Lee Drive) on April 8 that left a 73-year-old woman dead; police charged him with involuntary manslaughter, driving on a suspended license, and other traffic offenses.  WTKR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hampton residents may offer input on a proposed city budget that would lower property taxes to $1.14 per $100 of assessed value while boosting pay for city employees and raising stormwater fees by $1 per month—wastewater fees by nearly $3. One public hearing is set for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall and another will be held on May 7 before the final vote on May 14.  WAVY
