Hampton police said a three vehicle collision on Tuesday at the intersection of West Mercury Boulevard and Martha Lee Drive caused one fatality and injured two others—73-year-old Lucille McPherson of Newport News was the victim as investigators continue reviewing the case.

Today in Hampton Roads, the National Weather Service updated its alert system by renaming its Excessive Heat Watch to Extreme Heat Watch and Excessive Heat Warning to Extreme Heat Warning—criteria for dangerous heat remain the same.
