- ➤ The Noblemen, a nonprofit that has helped local children for 30 years, will host the Beyond Boundaries Bash at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach to support kids with special needs and their families (Sunday, May 4 from noon to 4 p.m.). The event will feature bike rides, magic shows and snow cones and is part of a program that also provides adaptive bikes, toy drives and literacy programs across Hampton Roads. 13 News Now

- ➤ A couple in Isle of Wight County runs Bullis Family Farm (which raises 21 ostriches, chickens and bees) and they are planning to expand into agritourism. They will open Kampe Bullis Farm Brewery in the next couple months where beer will be brewed and farm products like ostrich steak and eggs will be sold. WAVY

- ➤ Frank Cabuillo, 72 years old, retired twice and now sings as a Frank Sinatra tribute act in Hampton Roads—he performs nearly 200 shows a year. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows almost 3 million more seniors work today than a decade ago. WHRO Public Media
- ➤ On March 27, Hampton City Council reviewed preliminary projections that forecast Fiscal Year 2026 revenue of $469.8 million—up 4.6 percent over 2025—with additional gains expected from meal and sales tax receipts. - ➤ Hampton City School leaders approved a budget that gives full-time workers a 4% raise and most part-time workers a similar increase to keep staff and serve students—about 55 new jobs, including 19 school security officers and six special education teachers, will be added with the raise set to start on July 1 if the city approves the plan. - ➤ Norfolk Southern held a hands-on training for 80 local first responders who learned to handle train emergencies by practicing on real train equipment — they improved their skills in both classroom sessions and practical exercises. - ➤ Governor Youngkin signed several maternal health bills that support midwives, doulas, and emergency protocols while he amended the unconscious bias training bill to require further review.
