About this event

Presenter: Meet Melissa “Missy” Rose, PT, DPT, C/NDT , founder of Playtime Physical Therapy and Associates. With 36 years of pediatric physical therapy experience, Missy helps children with developmental delays and disabilities build skills and confidence through play. She partners with families to turn everyday routines into opportunities for learning and movement.

Overview of Session:

This workshop is designed to provide pediatric therapists, pediatric therapy assistants, educators, and early intervention providers with a practical understanding of neuroplasticity and how play-based intervention supports childhood development. Participants will explore the foundational principles of neuroplasticity and learn how meaningful repetition, engagement, task specificity, and environmental enrichment influence motor learning and developmental progress.

Through interactive discussion, case studies, collaborative group activities, live patient demonstration and hands-on strategy development, attendees will gain tools to incorporate neuroplasticity principles into functional everyday routines and therapeutic play activities. Emphasis will be placed on family-centered care, caregiver coaching, and creating opportunities for learning within naturally occurring environments.

Participants will leave with evidence-based intervention ideas that can immediately be implemented during therapy sessions, home routines, and classroom activities to support children in achieving developmental milestones in a fun, functional, and motivating way.

Approved by the VPTA for 6 Contact Hours. VOTA approval is pending.
